Yeah, they screwed over those pretty well...
Right now, I'm thinking that our next car will be a VW diesel... At least
if they bring the Lupo or Polo here to the US with the same fuel economy
that they get out of it in Europe... Something that we can give to our
daughter when she goes off to college... There's no way I'm going to give
her the Porsche nor the Dodge QuadCab...

Had a Jetta TDI wagon that *averaged* 48mpg with a
lot of 'round town driving, got 52 on road trips.
I won't hold my breathe waiting for VW to bother
getting the Polo through the crash test. Got a '92
MB turbodiesel that gets 28mpg. Not great but way
better than a domestic gas car of the same
weight's mileage. Bonus is that the damn thing
refuses to die and looks good doing it.
