When I had a cheeeep peeeee ceeeeee, I put in a cheap $17 firewire card
and it worked fine.
If you had one that recorded to a memory card or a hard drive or a DVD,
you might not be able to edit it. I've read that it's easier to edit the
tapes. I've used the mini-DV tapes for years and never had any trouble.
It's all we use at work now (I work in a video production unit) and we
have never had any problems with them.
