Shirley, set 'em up for my friends here. I'm wondering if I'm off base
here, but I'm thinking I didn't really deserve this reply from
J&MCorp. What do you all think?
The story is, the Nolan N103 helmet with J&M headset installed went on
sale for $60 less than I paid for it just 2 weeks after I bought mine.
I emailed customer service:
"Wow! How about giving me a $60 refund on the N103 I just ordered two
weeks ago? I've attached my original email message."
Didn't get a response. So, I called them. Got bumped to the sales
manager. Sales manager said I had to send an email message to John
Lazzeroni, the owner, at his personal email address. I did:
"I sent this email message, but did not get any response, so today I
called and talked to your Customer Service department. They had me
talk to the Sales Manager, who then told me to send an email message
to your personal address.
Basically, what happened is, I ordered and paid full price for this
$549.99 helmet and two weeks later it went on sale for $60 less. I
would like to get the sale price for the helmet that I ordered only a
couple of weeks ago.
I am no stranger to your products. I bought a similar headset and
installed it myself in my own 3/4 helmet last year, and also bought
your replacement antennas for my 105th Anniversary Edition Ultra
Classic. I would like to continue buying merchandise from you, and
continue to recommend you to the members of the four motorcycle clubs
to which I belong.
Thank you, John, for considering this request! I look forward to
hearing from you."
And he replied:
"So tell me ,,, if I don't extend this discount to you ,, then the
folks at J&M are but-holes for the rest of our lives ? ,,,,, J&M is a
bad company because we don't make special discounts that we do
"retro-active" for everyone that has purchased from us this year ?!??!
,,,,,,
Get real ,,,, we appreciate you as a customer and want to take good
care of you as always, but let's not get ridicules ,,,,, all special
sales at J&M have a start date and expiration date ,,,,, and that does
not obligate us for anything in between ,,,,,,
Now what if instead we give you a special discount on a new set of our
J&M 7.25" speaker upgrades that are being released in about two weeks
?? (((see Harley Classics page at www.jmcorp.com )) ,,,,,, or some
other J&M product ,,,,,, to show you that we do value your business
,,,,,,
Please let me know what makes sense to you ,,,,,,,"

Basically, this guy could have just said "I'm so very sorry, all our
sales have a firm start and end date. But, since you are such a valued
customer, how about a nice discount on some replacement speakers for
that fine Ultra you have?"
I didn't really think he needed to take that tone with somebody who
has spent over a grand on his products.

Yeah, I was kinda whiney there, I admit it! Shirley, get Kickstart

Well, in 20 minutes work's over, and I'm headin' out to a party with
my wife and her coworkers where animal flesh will be burnt, alcoholic
beverages consumed, lies told, maybe even some sports watched. I'll
have my attitude all adjusted here shortly! Hmmm, kinda sounds like
one of *our* get-togethers, don't it? Except these folks are all
school teachers, and we're all bad-ass bikers <sfsf>. Never mind that
- these teachers can party with the best of 'em.

learned not

Simple solution: Return the good for refund, and purchase it again at
the sale price. If they want to make it hard and expensive for
themselves, that's not your problem.
