Greetings.
Let me buy a round.
I will be heading down to Key West in November for a few days and need a
place to stay.
I saw the group photo from Key West posted across the street telling me
I am number one. That what the finger means, right?
Any suggestions for a inexpensive hotel/motel in Key West?

Can't help with inexpensive ones; all that I've stayed at have,
unfortunately, been expensive. I usually stay at Hampton Inns because
they are moderately priced and usually are clean, fairly new, well-
lit, and have wireless internet and comfy beds, but I'm afraid that
the Hampton Inn in Key West is the worst one I've ever encountered -
in fact, I had reservations there last year during Bike Week and I
actually didn't check in at all, it was that bad. (Dirty, noisy,
dark, cramped, I'm sure it was converted from a Super-8 or something.)

Inexpensive and Key West don't really go together. November is off season so
it shouldn't be as bad as, say, January.
You might want to check out The Blue Marlin, not fancy at all, But just a
couple blocks off Duval and a short walk from a pretty good Cuban deli. It's
just off Simonton. http://www.bluemarlinmotel.com/ I've stayed several
other places but they were all a lot higher.
I can however help you with a couple out of the way places to eat. If you
are driving to Key west down US 1 right as you leave Florida City you'll see
a sign, Key Largo via Toll Bridge, Hurricane evacuation route,. Take that
turn. It will take you to card sound and the toll bridge, the toll is like a
dollar. Just before the bridge on your right is Alabama Jacks. It's a biker
bar out in the middle of nowhere with the best Conch fritters and crab cakes
in the Keys. Eat there, it's a must:>)
The other place is just North of Key West. Just as you come on to Big
Coppitt Key you'll see a bar on the North side of the highway called
Bobalus, even found the address, 301 US 1. Not much to look at but the food
is great and priced pretty well to boot.
Have fun in the Keys, we always do.

On the recommendation of the folks at the Key West Welcome Center, I stayed
at the Blue Marlin last July 4.... adequate, fairly clean, not too
expensive... it was OK. I second the motion.
