Tabs open. The Chief of Staff of Casa de Nasty has decided we need new
kitchen counter tops. She's right of course. I want granite. The budget,
however imaginary, wants something less pricey, like camo tarps from
Walmart.
I've read all the shit I can absorb. I would like some real life pros and
cons of different counter top material. What have you put in, are you happy
with it, what would you do if you did a do-over, all that argumentative
shit.
On topic: nearly traded the Heritage for a deck boat. The deal fell through
when the guy with the deck boat insisted on rectal copulation with me as the
recepient. It's still for sale but I ain't givin' the thing away, ya know?
Shirley, another round for anyone still awake.

Any of the "solid surface" materials (corian as an example) are pretty
good . Make sure the fabricator knows what he's doing !! Get the sink that's
incorporated into the tops , they don't seep moisture into the substrate .
And you can polish scratches out yourself .

I second Snag's opinion of Corian *and* the built-in sink. No more of
that crud that builds up in the crack around the sink. Our guy installed
ours perfectly. I know where the two seams in the counter-top are, but I
can't find 'em. Only drawback that I know of is that if ya take a hot
pan right off the stove and set it on the Corian it could damage the
surface. I asked what could be done if a spot was damaged somehow. He
said they drill a hole where the damage is, and glue in a plug. Says ya
can't tell it's there.

When we did our kitchen over the ol' lady picked out corian counters. Over
$3k to set my sandwich on almost put me in shock. I suppose she's entitled
to something stupid since she's given me the go ahead on plenty of dumb
crap, like a 21' boat. I had this great idea to buy a boat. I sold my '79
sporty and picked out a 21' cuddy with a ford 302 (5.0L). I had a camaro, so
i sold that and bought a dodge 4x4. The dodge spun a bearing within the
first two weaks so i traded that in for a newer f150. We had to have our
single driveway ripped out and we had a much wider concrete pad poured. We
refinished all the wood, put new seats in the boat as well as new carpet. We
used the boat a grand total of six times and ended up selling her.
Nasty, how much for your '97 Softail? I'm in Western NY and your in Florida
but I was admiring the pics across the street and since I'm looking for a
nice scoot to keep forever, yours might just be the one.
Email me at weldingwaltathotmaildotcom with price, miles, and where you're
located.
Good luck with the kitchen!

Just FYI for the mass's:
Hey Wally,
My Heritage is in near perfect condition. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being best,
compared even to new bikes, I'd rate her at least a 9, no shit.
I have over $3K in chrome, as you can see in the pics. The windshield is
aircraft quality from Cee Bailey as I was tired of replacing motorcycle
grade glad wrap quality crap. The engine ate the front connecting rod roller
bearing about 6 or 7K ago. I had the motor factory rebuilt. It's amazingly
smooth. I have the stock carb on it with a Yost Power Tube.
It comes with a stock exhaust, two quick release back rests, one tall, one
shorter to accomodate my T-Bag, a Dunwell stand, battery tender, a shitload
of misc. nuts/bolts, extra parts, etc. The paint is a "factory custom". They
only made 200 paintsets in those colors. They still use it in their catalogs
after all these years. The tires are good for at least another 5K on the
rear and 8-10K on the front. It has 54K on the clock and has never been
abused and has always been kept in a garage except of course for road trips.
I bought her in Virginia and she's been to the Rendezvous from Virginia once
and from Florida two or three times. I've covered damn near every back road
in Virginia and I've been over to Daytona a half a dozen times. She's made
the circuit up the east coast, over to Sturgis and back without as much as a
carb fart.
I bought it new and am the only owner. I have a copy of the Certificate of
Origin, the original had to go to the state for a title. The book says it's
worth $12K. That doesn't allow enough for the painset and chrome. So I have
it for $14K. I'd let it go to an RMH'r for $12K with all the extra stuff.
I'm in Spring Hill, Florida, about 40 miles north of Tampa on the Gulf
Coast. Not as nice as it sounds...
Let me know what you think. BTW, I'm open to trades for a decent 23+ foot
offshore fishing boat.
Thanks for the info on the counter tops.
