Well......

Last week I experienced a slight little problem with the bike, showed zero psi
oil pressure at idle and the oil light was coming on, I could rev it a bit and
get good pressure. Took the oil filter off, cut it opened.....nice and clean.
Put on a new filter and fresh oil.

Same problem. Popped off the fairing, checked/remade the grounds for the
instrument circuits......seemed to do the trick. Good/normal oil pressure
readings. I thought it was an electrical problem, at idle the gauge would read
0, then it would pop down below zero and the light would come on....anyway,
thought I had it.

This morning I got "suited up", backed the bike out, fired her up......zero psi
oil pressure at idle......well, that's it, hopped in the pickup, ran over to the
closest dealer...asked for an oil sending unit. Parts guy gave me the wrong one,
then proceeded to tell me that my Ultra Classic didn't come with gauges, that
they had to have been aftermarket installations......I had him walk out to the
showroom with me and showed him a line of Ultras, all with gauges in the
fairings. He proceeded to tell me the bikes had changed since 2005. I told him
parts men used to be better too......I finally got the right sender.

Got home, swapped out the sender, no joy.....now I've got 0 oil pressure all the
time. Called the OTHER dealer that I usually use.....told 'em what was up, they
told me to get the bike to them....even gave me the number for Road America (I'm
covered)....then I got to follow the tow truck to the dealer and my bike was all
sad looking riding up there all alone.......

I'll hear from them maybe Tuesday......sure am glad I bought the 5 year extended
warranty on the damn thing......expires in August 2010 <sfsf>.

Ok, hit me with a clue x 4. You have the extended warranty but bought nay
donated the cost of an oil sending unit before using the warranty?

sometimes it's quicker to fix it yourself.......

I just put smiley faces in my post so you'll think I'm laughing with you instead
of AT you.
