Shirley, rounds for all...

My 'Passing lamps' burned out a while back, the local parts dealer only had
35 watt apiece tractor lamps that would fit the lamp holder. The H-D dealer
wanted an obscene amount of money for what amounts to a PAR36 lamp.  These
together with the rest of the electrical load were too much load for the
18.5 amp alternator on my 1976 bike, it could not keep up, I could watch the
battery voltage just drop.  Don't want to burn out an alternator, so I
rarely used the passing lamps.  Finely sourced some narrow spot 20 watt
PAR36 halogens and acquired them.  Went to install and found that they were
not quite thick enough to mount securely in the lamp holder.  So I thought
about it for a short while (one beer).  Fabricated and installed a 'rubber'
mount from a piece of  clean fuel line, lined the inside edge of the lamp
holder and installed the lamp. Lamp is now securely mounted and resting on a
'rubber' mount  and maybe less susceptible to vibration too.

Upgrade it to a 32 amp chargingsystem . Bolt in , and Jireh , along with
others sell them starting at around 175 bucks . I wouldn't get the cheapest
one ... unless you plan to hardwire the regulator connection . Cheapass
connector terminals on the stator fail from vibration . Usually somewhere in
the middle of Arkansas in a pouring ass rain .

Haven't felt the need to go to the H7614 , which is 50 watts vs the 7616's
35 .

Pug , posting that picture in this TEXT ONLY news group has most likely
made you no friends ... read the FAQ's at www.rmffaq.com for a much more
pleasant stay here ...
