Thanks MaGGie. I wonder how quick a purpose built drag bike would have been
around '70?

PiPPi and Toni (Court Jester) are pretty dialed into HD drags - ping'm
as they may have some useful trailheads to follow up on.

I certainly have been looking but, no, AFAIK there are no dedicated
websites for old Harley drag racing pics and info.

What is cool though is that a few old amateur and pro race photographers
have started gathering up paper pictures and negatives from their own
shelves, scans them and puts them up on the web and then it rolls on
from there with others adding on.

One of the best sites for vintage dragbike pics, IMO, actually comes out
of the UK and can be found at http://www.theaccelerationarchive.co.uk

Enter the site at http://www.theaccelerationarchive.co.uk/site_map.html
, choose "Motorcycles" and enjoy (bet you can't stay away from the car
pictures). Yes, it's all Europe-based but no matter, there are some
pretty cool shots of what it was like back then. It wasn't uncommon for
US racers to do the trip across the ocean so you'll se a few US race
bikes including an old V-twin or two.

Not on bikes but for vintage drag racing the site at
http://www.wediditforlove.com  is probably the number one for old
DR-pics. Takes a while just to plow through the free stuff.

Hep Pippi, and Les, this ain't bikes, but it's really cool.  Not too
far from my house, and one of the guys I work with races his car there
from time to time.  Should be both old pics and some new ones too, as
he's still operating.
