Oh Shirley! Again please.
Well, there I was sitting in a camo lawn chair gazing at Eva parked in
the driveway without her tank. I figured I had to do a small gas
rinse of the tank and then put filtered gas back in to see if I got
enough of the liner flakes out.
After a quick rinse with about a quart of gas. Didn't get much,
mostly small flakes, I re-installed the tank, tightened the new gas
line, made sure the vacuum lines were on tight and filled it with
filtered gas. Boy that paint filter sure did catch small stuff as I
filled the tank. The lady thought she gave me 3 of them. when I
unstuck them I found 10 not 3!
I stuck the carb in place and tried to start her up. Eva started as
soon as the key turned. I turned her off and buttoned everything back
up. Washed her so she would feel good about going out for a test took
a couple block tour of the neighborhood. She ran fin through starts,
stops, acceleration and hard de-acceleration. Seems it was the crud.
Now I have a choice to make. I can keep riding and ignore it. I can
take the tank in and have it cleaned, sealed and painted. I can look
for another tank and take that one in and have it cleaned, sealed and
repainted.
If I re-paint, I sure would like to go with a black cherry, but money
is a mite tight right now.
I may get lucky this weekend at Eustis or Daytuna and find a black
tank.
Shirley, a large coffee please and leave the bottle of D please
Thanks for everyone's ideas and for "some" of the suggestions >G<
