Anyone know if this will reach the hex bolt holding the damper rod?

I did this last year. I bought long hex wrenches by 3/8 socket at the local
auto store - they were made for working on import brake calipers. I just
dropped the axle, and using a regular ratchet, undid the bolts. Then I
pulled the caps off. No need for impact tools.

Ditto. I used all my 3/8-inch extensions, too!

Plastic's on the bar. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction here.
A couple more questions:
The rebuild originally was to lower the forks an inch or two. Now I'm
thinking to just drop them in the trees (or raise depending on how you look
at it).
What is the downside to doing it this way?
(The upside of course is that I can go back and forth to stock height very
easily.)
I will still be replacing the fork innards to permanently remove the air
system and replace the stock damper rods and springs with progressive parts,
so this thread's not been wasted. Info about getting that bottom bolt out is
invaluable and worth the cost of the drinks and the companionship.
The second question is:
Will the damper rods make it all the way up and out of the fork tubes
without separating the tubes from the sliders?
-------
I'll be back in a bit for the plastic, drinks, and replies.
Thanks,
