You'll run the risk of smoking your stator if you add higher wattage lights.

Might try aiming them downwards a bit.  Seems to help a lot to keep people
from high-beaming you.

Well, that's not what you said originally, which was you wanted to be
seen....

I suggest you put a switch on the lights so you can shut them off when
you're being flashed. Aimed properly on a level garage floor doesn't
translate to not blinding people on a country road.
