Well, I finally got a round tuit. Got the bushings on Thursday, and got to
looking at the space between the inner primary, and the engine. The bushing
is a bch bigger than the space I need it to fit in.The bushing is 3/4" long.
I can't push the inner bearing out towards the motor, and I'm not keen on
pulling in through the primary to the outside. So it looks like Spunky was
right. Guess I'll wait until I Need to remove the primary. The replacement
bushings I got are split bushings. I thought about collapsing the bushings,
and then removing them, but if I'm not totally lined up reinstalling them,
I'll have to remove the primary cases, and start again. And I'd have to push
the inner bushing all the way through. It appears I would spend more time
trying to r/r the bushings without removing the cases, than it would take
just to do it right. It may happen before Mambm, but I'm not counting on it.
Got my new exhaust gaskets in though, and actually wiped some of the grime
off the bike. Didn't wash it, it was too nice out. Went for a ride instead.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with any info. Although, I guess you know
fer sure the primary has to come off.<g>.

I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but could you push the old bushing
part of the way through, the get something like a dremel in there to cut it
off and then push the rest of it the rest of the way through?  I have no
idea of there's enough room to get a cutting tool in there, or if that would
even address the problem, just a thought.

Thought about that too, but I wouldn't be able to get the new bushing in
place, and push it in.
I'd have to shave a little off the new bushing, then use a lever type
device(screwdriver) to push the bushing in, but I don't think I'd be able to
push it in true. If it got a little sideways on me I don't know if I'd be
able to correct it. I'll prolly contact the wrench that used to work at
Toad's and see if I can get a lend of the gear he uses on the primary chain,
and just pull the cases. I have to change the fluid, and check the chain
anyway, so It'll only cost me gaskets and time. A buddy down the road
offered me use of his garage, with a car lift, and air tools. I don't know
if the car lift will be useful, but the air tools will make removing the
cases a hell of a lot easier.
Thanks for the idea though.

Did ya get out for a ride today? Had a couple a fella's stop in today,
whilst I was in the middle of fiddlin with the bike. Slowed me down just
enough so that the temps were cooling by the time I got to ride.  BTW, was
at the price club/Costco yesterday. They had one of them 10x20 tarped
carports for $219. It was actually Babe's idea to get it. She said, since
I'd been trying to get one for the past four years, I had better get it now
while it was in stock.(Got in with friend who has a membership) I've been a
day late and a dollar short the last few times they've had one. I know it's
a trap. It's gonna cost me later. We've been discussing who's turn it is for
the next tat, so I'm thinking this will come back to haunt me while we're
away. I'll already be packed, so I'll be ready for the guilt trip<g>. She
got her first and only tat while we were on vacation in B.C, so her theory
is I get local tats, and she gets away tats.

Ah, I thought the new one could go in through the front.  I was also going
to suggest threading the old one and then screwing a bolt into it and using
the slide hammer to get it out, but if you can't get the new one if from the
front then you likely can't pull the old one out through the front.

No, spent the day running around with the family and washing the bike.

Lot's of bikes out now, although the next couple days are supposed to be
shitty.

Your bike is gonna get spoiled. <g>

Yeah, but I'm still not gonna wash it.

She's mentioned it. <g>We're stopping in at her nephew's in N.B. on the way.
He gets home from Afghanistan tomorrow. He was telling me that there was a
girl locally who'll does ink for low bucks. Mostly does the local
serviceman, but hopefully she'll ink us. He's got a couple done by her. She
does good work. She usually works out of one of the house's of whoevers
getting done, so there's no shop overhead. Just supplies and time.
