The AMA is all the big trucking co. that are already limited to
slower than the flow of traffic. They are usually the ones that get in
your way.
The AMA has always voiced the cry for lower speedlimits, When the
National Speedlimit was repealed they fought it.
When it was the law ie. 55mph everywhere, all the regular over the
road drivers just bought better electronics and kept the hammer down.
It helped to have a couple of driver lic. from different states also.
At one time I had drivers lic from Ca, Tx, In, Oh, and NC. The CDL
was supposed to stop that.

The problem when you limit trucks to so low of a speed limit is the
time they would be in your way when trying to pass another truck. It
takes alot of time for an 80,000 lb rig to build up enought speed when
he can maybe only get another 100 rpm because his speed is limited.

And split speed limits are very unsafe, look at any state stats that
have it.

But really I'm about ready to pull my dog out of this fight (bout 6
months or so)

I would guess the teamsters would be a great supporter of this because
slower the speed the longer the trucks are on the road and the more truckers
there would have to be to get the same amount goods to their destination
thus increasing the number teamsters paying dues to them and the more
retirement money the teamsters would also receive....
