The supplied subject above is meant facetiously... poking fun at the
content within the news article below.

And please, now that I've alerted you to this new cop bike's speed
capability, if you attend the MDA Fall Ride in nearby Tomahawk, don't
roll through Rhinelander and try to outrun the scooter cop on duty.

Rhinelander - The Rhinelander Police Department now has access for more
inaccessible places with a brand new Harley Davidson bike.

This black and shiny 2008 Harley has a six speed motor transition.

Officers must go through a two week training session in order to ride
the cycle.

Police say the bike goes up to 55 miles per hour and they're prepared tp
pull people over when necessary, in fully functioning traffic.

Rhinelander Patrol Sergeant, Jeff Melau, says, "It's obviously good PR,
everyone likes the cycle, bright, shiny, you can get into places,
walking paths, places you wouldn't be able to get in a squad car and too
far to walk in. So a lot of access to inaccessable places."

Police Officers say the cycle also gets great gas mileage, with 40 PLUS
miles to the gallon.

"six speed motor transition"?

"fully functioning traffic"?  (I let the 55 mph go)

I read that comment about a six speed motor transition and thought to myself
(and no offense to the fine women in here) that this had to be a chick
writing the article, and sure 'nough.

Now that's funny!  Up to 55mph!  Oh really?  Their PR person needs some
updating.

However, I have listened to the police scanner and a lot of people just
stomp on their car's accelerator and run away from our local police force on
their H-D's.  If they get a license plate read they may give up and get them
later or let a car intercept.  I've listened to one guy whose bike was
shaking so much he couldn't get a read of the perp's plate and you could
tell it from his voice.  He lost him.

Now I've heard they may go to BMW patrol bikes since we got a dealer.  May
take a while for the public to adjust to the increase in speed.  Maybe the
police dept's. PR person as well.

Up to 55 mph!  Sheesh!

The author of the piece obviously got it wrong. Since the Rhineland
is in Germany, which uses the metric system, the above should have read,
