Since ride reports are comin' back in style I can use a small
one to fish for parts.
Last Saturday Linda & I took the bike over to the new seat
maker that's setup shop next to Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona.
Ultimate Seats insists you demo ride their seat for several hours
before you finalize the sale. Sounded like a good idea to me. We
rode over, swapped seats, & headed for Lake Mary the back way.
Along the way I spotted a guy with a set of Dyna pipes layin'
in the yard along with a bunch of other "for sale" stuff. U-turned, &
found out he wanted a whole $35 for 'em. Since they were in pretty
good shape I pestered a couple of Asshole's(tm) for contact with
Amanda. She's lookin' for pipes. Got the contact, but she is more
interested in some Pythons I have.......<shrug>
Finished our wander over to Lake Mary, had lunch (a little
late), & decided to slab it back 'cause we'd made our decision about
the seat. It's a comfortable seat, but it locked me into one
position, & the manufacturer was tryin' to make one seat fit two
bikes. Probably pretty good on an E-glide, but it's an inch short on
the Road Glide & leaves the dash bolt exposed. I was just lookin' for
a better backrest, so the idea of spendin' $700 for a backrest & a
seat that restricts & leaves stuff exposed just didn't do it for me.
Now I'm lookin' for a backrest. Or to be more precise, just the
hardware from a backrest. Mine works, but I want one I can tear-up to
see if I can modify it. If anyone knows of one that's worn, torn, or
abused, but cheap don't hesitate to ping me.
As for the ride.......Sunny all day, easy goin' over & quick
comin' back. The only one that didn't enjoy it was the guy tryin' to
sell seats.............<shrug>

You saw that stocker. Way big, just barely leans back enough,
& if I tilt it forward enough to get my leg over it I spend 10 minutes
tuckin' the cover between the seats so it'll lean back again.
Remember me wrestlin' my leg over that thing for a week?
I figure that if I can score a cheap one with the cover
trashed I can rip the cover off, fashion my own lower version, & cover
it so that it'll still lean forward when I swing my leg over it. I
could be wrong, but that's never stopped me before. 'Specially if the
cost wasn't too high...........

Yup, I was thinking (to myself), why doesn't he just tilt it forward?
But I was usually about two gas pumps away and we were ready to roll
again.
Now I know.
I was gonna axe you how you liked it.
Now I know.
How does Linda like it?
Does it get in her way?

That was the first trip it lasted more than 1/2 a day. I
finally got it re-designed to where it's good enough, but it's still
too high. I only need a little something for my lower back.

Linda will tolerate it if I *need* it, but I usually don't use
it when she's with me.
