How do I keep the running lights on with the highbeam headlamp on?
Is there any way to rewire my 01 road king to allow me to have both my
hi-beams and my passing lghts on at the same time?
The issue of legality aside, yes it can be easily done:
a.. Take off your headlamp, locate the orange wire that follows the
headlamp connector wire. Then locate the flat four pin connector for the
spot lamp switch.
b.. Remove and insulate the yellow wire from the spot lamp switch, and
connect the orange wire in it's place, this puts the spotlamp on the
accessory circuit.
c.. You can still use the spotlamp switch to turn them on and off, but the
high/low beam switch will no longer affect it.
d.. Once this is done, I recommend checking the actual current flow
through the accessory fuse.

I found all kinds of wiring diagrams in my factory manual . And when I
rewire my passing lamps , they're going to be hooked to the auxiliary
circuit , making them totally independent of the headlight .
You'll find the diagrams for that circuit in the FM too ...
Thanks for the Dickel .

That's what I did on mine. I studied the diagram,
pulled the connector that supplies the aux and passing
lamp switches, and then pulled the supply wires from the
connector and switched them. Now the passing light switch
is hot all the time and totally separate from the lighting circuit.
Never used the aux for anything anyway.
