The plastic is on the table and drinks are on me. It's 98 degrees here so
I'll have an IPA tnx.
I purchased a 12 volt kit to add a cigarette lighter type adapter to my Road
King Classic so I can plug in a GPS unit. The package says it fits 1994 and
later touring models. After I got it home and opened it up the instructions
say it fits all models except the RK Classic. Nice of them to note that on
the inside of the package instead of the outside.
Anyone have any idea why they say it will not fit? It is supposed to mount on
the right side cover by drilling a 7/8" hole and plugging the other end into
the accessory plug under the seat. It's too hot to pull the seat and side
cover right now and look. I was hoping to do it this weekend but now I'm not
sure if I can make it fit.

Don't start drilling holes until you are sure you have the depth of
space you need to install it. Don't ask me how I know this.

(snipped)

My guess is that you will have to fabricate some sort of bracket to mount
the adapter.
I don't have a RK but I would suggest some place on the left fork or
windshield mounting area.

Side note: R-A-M makes and excellent mount for almost every make/model of
GPS.

Suggest you go to this fellows web  site and follow his instructions,
rather than placing a power point in the side panel. I used his method
and am very satisfied with the result.
