Gonna pick up the rebuild kit for the '97 FLSTF carb(leaking around
the accel. pump shaft, near as I can tell having not removed it yet)
this afternoon. If I find too much wrong w/the carb,I may chuck it and
get the S+S E carb. Who is a good vendor for the complete kit,or
should I simply let a local shop get it? I see no reason not to do
the R+R myself.I would like to get a good price if posible. Help
yourselves and thanks again.

Just get a rebuild kit and a new diaphram for yer CV. It's cheap and
easy. If you were happy with that carb before it started leaking
there's no reason to go buy an S&S.

If you tear it all the way down, just be patient with the slide
diaphragm it can be tricky to get back into place and spendy to replace.

There's a trick to replacing it. Makes it real easy.
