Shirley, set 'em up.
I took a ride Saturday, went up the Cherohala Skyway, stopped at the
Joyce Kilmer Woods, and came back across the Tail of the Dragon.

Someone had gone down on the Skyway, I saw a large group of bikes
stopped near the state line and people tending to an injured person. I
saw several ambulances and police cars heading to the scene later.
After lunch at the Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort, I headed over the
Dragon, a nice, easy ride. One cop had some bikes pulled over, and
then, I came up on a couple of bikes doing 20 mph and slowing on the
curves. One waved me past and I passed the other, as well, then slowing
back down to the 30 mph limit. Right after the next corner a deputy was
sitting waiting for me, but I wasn't speeding!
There were 4 more cops in various places along the lake at the bottom of
the hill, where the speed limit is a ridiculously low 40. I was cool,
though, just taking my time.
Right as I got back to the house it started to rain. As I put the bike
in the garage it rained real hard for about 5 minutes, then quit, as if
to tell me, "I'll get you next time!"

All those great roads within a day's ride
of you. I am jealous.

Seems like every road around here is a great motorcycle road. That's
the one thing I like about the area.

Nice! We need to get that way more often. It's not that far from us.

Hmm. I seem to remember that some netscum might wander around aimlessly and
end up around those parts sometime in late July. I might be one of those
folks. I'll be newly-retired, too, and ready to celebrate!
