The guy on the other end of the line said that they are likely *not*
to replace or help me out with the shitty tire on the front of my bike.
He also said that Harley engineers and Dunlop engineers are looking into
the problem. I took that to mean that one is trying to blame the other.
He also said that the replacement tire is not available to dealers yet.
Something the local dealer seemed to confirm telling me that the *new*
part number is *not* in the parts system. He also told me people needing
a new tire will have to settle for the old D407F because that's all
that's available.
The other thing I asked the customer service rep about was why the
touring bike doesn't have the balanced engine on it. He said he gets
that question a lot (surprise surprise). Then he got to telling me about
how the balanced engine would buzz the bars at highway speeds. I told
him it wouldn't if it was still mounted in rubber like the non balanced
engine is. He said he never thought about it like that. I guess no one
else at Harley ever thought about it like that either.
I just hope when they go under that it's not to hard to still get
parts somewhere.

If it isn't available, how are the newer bikes showing up with them
installed?
I found a part number for a blackwall 17" 408F
Don't have it handy though.

I'm assuming that they meant as a service part. I read on one of them
there H.D. forums that people are getting them replaced. Personally I
don't know I'm just spreading rumors started by the Harley customer
service guy(got *his* name written down at the shop) and the parts guy
named Clay at Grove's Harley in Winchester VA.

Yeah I found the part number for the new replacement for the front tire
on my bike, gave it to the dealer(because he didn't have it) but it
doesn't compute, he said it's not in their system. Maybe it's 'cause
they got the old system, I don't know, just postin' what I was told by
people that *should* know.

I found that one part number in the system so it is there.
I just searched parts for "Tire D408" under description.
Maybe I'll drop by the shop in a while and see if they are available at the
warehouse.
I know we don't have any in stock.
If H-D gave a shit they would automatically sub up the old part number and
send out the new tire in its place.
I've been seeing lately how little they give a shit, or at least the
Canadian distibutor. I assume it's the same in the US.
