I got my cop seat for Rodney, from Kickstart back during BikeWeek.
Today, I finally got it mounted.  Lots of stuff gets in the way,
including not having tools at the Cabin, not being at the Cabin long
enough to get started and finished in the same day/week/month, riding
instead of wrenching, etc...

The major tuit in the way was wanting to do it right with the nutserts
installed correctly.  Let me tell you right here and right now... THAT
IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT.  But having just said that, it's what I did.  I
would recommend hardened bolts/nuts with lock washers for anyone needing
to re-visit this type of installation.  Everything can be gotten to with
the right tools.

Back to my nutsert...  <insert high-school comments here>.  Since I
didn't have the nutsert installation tool, and NONE of the Harley
Dealers within 150 miles didn't either, and none of the body shops
within 150 miles didn't either.. (body shops use these regularly but
either metric or smaller sizes).

So do it the old fashioned way,,, hardened bolt/nut and piece of steel
(roughly 1" wide by 1/8" thick by whatever length you can find) with a
5/16th hole drilled in the end.  Found the steel at the local tractor
supply... 3' long and I really didn't feel like hackin' my way through
it to shorten it, so I laid it against a chair.  Worked like a charm,
since I didn't have to hold it, but I did have to hold the head of the
bolt tight so it wouldn't turn while I cranked down on the nut.  Total
time... about 10 minutes, I did stop to have some beer after the first
one.

What's left now is to get the alignment right... the seat comes down
about 1/2 inch to the right of the pin on the plunger.  I haven't taken
a real good look at what needs to move or be shimmed... it's time to
light the bonfire.  Pauline's been gatherin' tree limbs and we're about
to do an Indian dance around a very large fire... and then jump in the
lake.

Someday I'll order the Samson Caliber pipes for Rodney and maybe even
put them on...

Thanks for the B'day wishes... I'm like Snarl, don't much care for them.
People axe me how old I am... sometimes I don't rightly know.

you don't need no stinkin tools !!
you just place the rivnut in da hole from the top
<insert high-school comments here>.
then tighten up the bolt, remove the bolt place the seat bracket on
and tighten it back up, done.
As far as alignment, there should be some play in the seat bracket
holes to manipulate the bracket to allign.
.
If you bike is carbed the air tank will fit under the left side cover,
if not put it in the right saddlebag and run the air hose to the seat,
Drill small holes as necessary

Mine were spinning with the bolt.
I didn't try putting the bracket in first, which probably would have
worked to keep the nut away from the nutsert and keep it from spinning.

I'm going to try to mount it on the quick disconnect package so it
shows.
I'm going to get some Nitrous stickers to put on it.
