Refreshments are on me while I pose this query:
When I advertised my '81 CB750 chopper for $3500 (Canadian)...

...I got a call from a guy with a Sportster chopper with
a '76 motor in a '67 Paughco hardtail frame looking
something like this:
http://www.harley-ironhead.com/hardtail_conversion/1973_ironhead_in_paughco_frame_by_scott.php
He wants to trade straight across. Is this a good deal?
I have asked several people with knowledge of Harleys; one said "No way;
ironheads are high maintenance and parts are hard to find."
(I don't have a shop; just a driveway out in the open.)
Another guy (who builds Harley choppers) said "Yes, it's a great
deal, go for it. You'll have an easier time selling the Harley
than some freaky Honda chopper."
My bike runs tolerably well; the Sportster guy says his does too.
He says he wants to trade because his kid also has a Honda chopper.
Meanwhile there's a local bike swap meet coming up in April and
I had been planning on hauling the Honda there. It isn't what I'd call
very roadworthy and I don't like riding it over 30 mph. If I get the
Sportster I'd at least try and have some fun with it.
Any advice appreciated.
TIA, Sean_Q_

It's a good deal if you think your bike is worth $1,500 - $2,500.
That's what ironhead sporties are going for, WITH an original frame,
paperwork, etc...
There are TONS of parts for these motors, and more ways to upgrade them
than you'll ever be able to consider.
Make sure you know what year it is, and what transmission it has with
it.
The '76 was left foot shift, right foot brake, the '73 was opposite.

A Honda chopper for a Sportster chopper?
It's like trading projectile vomiting for uncontrollable bowel
movements.
