Sturgis 2008 road trip - The Journey Home

 Shirley, one last round for anyone still left.

Day 20 I get up early enough but don't get on the road until around 1PM.
  I have 4 days to get to Mississippi for my 30 year HS reunion.  I have
no clue why I'm going since I don't remember anyone from high school,
and really didn't like anyone either.  Quite uneventful ride.  Made it
to Elk Point, SD (Just north of Sioux City) just after 9PM with 420 miles.

Day 21 I'm on the road by 9AM and make it to just south of St. Louis, MO
   (Pevely, MO), 560 miles, 12 hrs.  I must have made a lot of stops,
don't remember much of this part of the trip.

Day 22 I get up at 10AM and hit the road, only have about 550 miles to
go to get back to my hometown. Another easy day, or so I thought.  I get
to Jackson, MS and call my brother to find out where is is now living
since that's where I'll be staying for a couple of days.  Ah, I know
where he lives, and I know a shortcut (or so I thought).  Missed the
damn turnoff, no problem, I'll take the next one.  Crap, this road is
under construction, another detour.  Now I'm lost.  Thank goodness for
google maps on my cell phone.  I pull up to my brothers house around
7:30 PM and he wants to go shoot pool. 1:30 AM and back to his house we
go.  Just over 600 miles for the day.

Day 23 and I sleep till almost noon.  I have no clue where they are
holding the reunion, so I have to go hunt this place down.  Spend the
next 3 hrs trying to find the place, another 2 hrs getting lost trying
to get back to town, just in time to go back for the reunion.  Shit,
everyone remembers, me, but I don't have a clue who all these people
are.  I think I'll stay away for another 30 years, maybe I'll forget
even more of them.  I think I managed to put 200 miles on the bike and
never got more than 50 miles from my brothers house.

Day 24, time to go home.  Wake up and on the road by 9:30, stop in
Tuscaloosa to see 2 of my sisters, and on home by 7:30PM with another
450 miles.

All total, I did just over 7000 miles in 24 days (500 miles less than my
2005 Sturgis road trip).  Only 4 states my geezerglide hasn't been to
yet, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, and at least one of those
states (Alaska) will be added in a couple years, since I do believe
Anchorage, Alaska is between Atlanta, GA and Sturgis, SD.

Just to put a date on it, that's the 14th, 15th, 16th this year...
