Tennessee doesn't want our tourism money I guess. Seems like a silly thing:

I had already sent emails to the Governor, Director of Tourism, State
Senator, and Representative from Blount County. I was so sweet that sugar
wouldn't melt on my d***. I praised their state for it's beauty and
wonderful vacation opportunities but ended by saying that I would no longer
avail myself of either. I finished by saying that I seriously doubted that
my lack of spending in their state would even cause the tiniest blip in
their income. However, I did ask just how many people doing the same thing
would cause a blip. I told them I was retired and not the least bit adverse
to trying my best to see if I could help reach that number of people.
Further, I told them I would contact H-D and cancel my reservations for the
HOG thing in Knoxville. Okay, okay, I don't have reservations but I am going
to contact HOG (as a life member) and voice my displeasure.
The trick is to be nice but hit them from as many financial angles as
possible.

here is what i got back from the THP in response to my email. seems like a
bunch of blah, blah, blah.

As you have noticed, the THP has started an enforcement program in the Deals
Gaps Area of Hwy. 129. Some people are very upset with this effort and some
people applaud it as long overdue. We are receiving emails on both sides of
the issue. I can tell you in the past year, we received calls and emails
every few days that ask us to do "something" in this area. The overwhelming
majority of people describe this area as "total chaos and lawlessness."
When you combine these type of descriptions and the statistical information
on crashes and fatalities (three fatalities in one weekend two weeks ago),
we felt like we had to do something as a public safety organization. You
may not agree with our program but it is aimed at protecting the public who
frequent that area and ride in a safe manner. It has nothing to do with
"quotas" and driving tourism from Tennessee. Anyone who rides in that area
and does so safely is always welcome and will not have any problem with the
THP. We will continue to conduct our enforcement program for the near
future in an effort to make Deals Gap a safe place for recreational
motorcycle activity.
