Drinks and wings please barkeep, help yourselves folks.
Well it's been a while since I rode into work but I'm now nearing the end of
the week. So far I've managed to dodge the rain showers and have enjoyed
riding in a long sleeved t-shirt sans jacket. I've had a couple of
'interesting' experiences this last week. A couple of days ago I pulled up
behind an suv at a red light, it was at a crosswalk. There were two lanes
going in my direction of travel and the inside lane was taken by two cages.
A pedestrian jogged across the crossing and no sooner had he crossed the
three other vehicles decided to take off - despite the red light. It wasn't
that it was about to go green either, the red light stayed at red for
approx. another 10 seconds!!! Three dumb asses, I have never witnessed such
stupidity before, maybe just the one vehicle but THREE!!!!
Then this afternoon on the ride home I noticed a white Audi approaching my
road from a side road and it was bleedin' obvious the dork wasn't going to
stop, so in anticipation I hit the horn. He slammed on his brakes and as I
rode around his cage I looked to see him gesticulating in a rather animated
fashion. I gesticulated back, letting him know that I though he was #1<sf>
I await Fridays rides with interest.
Cheers

Interesting coincidence. Virginia passed a law which goes into effect
tomorrow, July 1, 2011. If a motorcycle sits at a traffic light and it
does not change green for the motorcycle within 2 traffic signal cycles
or 2 minutes, whichever is shorter, the motorcycle can proceed through
the red signal if the way is clear and the motorcycle can clear the
intersection safely.
As for your last sentence.....see my sub-line to this message.

Great law, wish we had that in NY.

California law states that (paraphrasing) a traffic signal that is not
operating correctly is to be treated as a four way stop. To me, and I
would argue the point in court, that means that if the sensor in the
street does not detect my motorcycle then it is inoperative. When the
traffic is clear I go.

You say tomato, I say tomato. Doesn't make much sense when you read it.

I was coming in on the freeway the other morning in my wife's SUV (heavy
rain that morning) and some old battleax cut me off . It wasn't like he
didn't have warnng that the inside lane was closed due to a wreck , she
drove under two info signs that told her it was closed . After getting past
her , I also indicated my opinion . Stupid old biddy just had to pull up
next to me and *shake* *her* *finger* at me ! Acted like I had no right to
be irritated , after I had to slam on brakes and dodge her . Had I been in
my old beater truck I'd have let her hit me . Right in front of all those
cops at the accident scene ...
