A friend of mine who is the Service Manager for the local Honda shop has
been after me to take a test ride on a Gold Wing. Well, today I decided
with gas at #3.69 per gallon and crystal blue skies I may as well take
him up on it.
2011 silver Gold Wing was waiting for me this morning. They took me
through the cockpit fam and off I went. A very smooth highly
technologically advanced well done piece of machinery. Rode up to
southern Virginia for my favorite BBQ and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The fixed fairing was an item I disliked on my 1985 FLTC. Just never got
used to it. Happiness was when I removed it and converted the FLTC to a
Road King.
The GW windshield must be about 9 square feet of Plexiglas and there is
absolutely no wind buffeting at all. Quick, silent, powerful but boring
as hell. Twist the throttle and that motorcycle is up to 60 very quickly.
To the best of my knowledge there is no photographic evidence that this
ride ever occurred. Would I buy one? No but I enjoyed the ride.

The BBQ was great as always....finely minced pork with a tomato base
seasoning on a bed of lettuce. I know , that sounds weird but it is
great. Fries and iced tea followed up with banana pudding.

We will have to set up an IRL at one of these joints or both in the near
future. I suppose Short Sugar's is about half way for both of us.
