I've heard there's snow in Labrador City, so before it gets too cold to work
with the garage door open I'll be doing a little rust proofing on the bike.
I pulled the hack fender off this evening and snapped three bolts in the
process. No biggy, the goal was to replace them all with stainless hardware
anyway. The amount of salt built up under the front light assembly was
unbelievable, in fact I think I may have to replace the light assembly.
This isn't something I'd consider if I didn't happen to have a spare
assembly.
I've got a starter kit of POR15 in the garage that I picked up a few months
ago, so we'll see how things go. I'll start by taking the wire wheel to it
then degreasing it, prepping it and painting it. The black paint won't
quite match the camo paint, but who gives a shit as long as it keeps the
metal bits from rusting again. If I get energetic I'll take some pics, I
think I like the looks of the hack without the fender, unfortunately that
means no turn signals on the right so I shouldn't really run it like that.

Danl you're new here so I'll give you a clue about cold weather here in
Florida. Winter "officially" arrives when Kickstart winterizes his bike......he
throws a sweatshirt in the saddle bag..............

And damn near every year I go to Bike Week and forget to do exactly
that. Now I have a growing collection of sweatshirts that I've stopped
and bought at that 24 hour touristy shop near the Oasis in St. Augustine
to keep from freezing to death.
And long sleeved t-shirts from Snack Jacks that saved me in the same way.
