Shirley, my plastic is on the bar. I know this bunch gets
awful thirsty when they start talking and I suspect there
may be a few that need a shot or two to properly
lubricate the wheels in their heads to easily answer
the following questions.

While getting the 7,500 mile oil change done on the 09 Ultra
under their "Freedom Maintenance" plan, it was mentioned to
me that shortly they would be offering a "Big Bore" sale for
those who wanted to upgrade the 96ci to a 103ci. I was
assured this upgrade was totally warranty friendly with the
cams they would use.
At present I'm at "Stage-1" with the SE air cleaner, Rush
slip-ons and the HD flash of the computer, and an oil cooler.

1. Their quote for parts and labor out the door is $2,000.00
This includes pistons, jugs, cams, gaskets, etc. and labor.
Is this in the ballpark for a HD shop upgrade that does not void
my warranty or extended warranty?

2. Is this upgrade really worth the bucks or will I even be
able to tell the difference, other than "bragging rights" that
it's been upgraded. I really feel that this bike could use a
bit more grunt. Maybe I've ridden Wings too long.

Had I known that the 2010 Ultras would have been offered
with a 103 right from the factory I might have waited a few
more months but that's a moot point now.
Thanks for opinions, advice from folks who have done this,
or a few flames.

Awh, come on... You don't buy a Harley for performance... You buy it for
comfort and maybe for the sound, but performance in not in the
equation... Neither is economy come to think of it... The last Harley I
owned (prior to the current one) was a 1976 Sportster... I hated it...
They were crap back in the AMF days... Other than my current 2006 FLHP-I,
I have stuck with rice burners over the years... I also have a Kawasaki
ZX-6E (aka Ninja 600) in my garage and if I want performance, I ride
it... Of course, the seat is rather uncomfortable and the position that
it keeps my knees ends up killing them after a 500 mile trip... I decided
that I'm an old fart and I just don't need to ride a sport bike... The
cop seat on the FLHP-I is tremendously more comfortable than *any* other
bike that I've owned... Enough so that it makes up for the lack of
speed... The specs say that the FLHP-I can do 104 mph and I've had it
within a couple of mph indicated on the speedometer... It gets up there
quick enough, I guess... Nothing to write home about, but quick enough to
get out of the way of some of the idiots in the cars, I guess... The
Kawasaki though gets up there so fast that you really have to pay
attention to keep from attracting a bit too much attention from the donut
patrol... Just the least bit of throttle creap and you can easily end up
doing 120... It's supposedly a 150+ mph bike... I've had it up to 140 and
it was still climbing... I have no need for that much speed in a
motorcycle... It's fun though...

Yeah, I picked all of my motorcycles based on how they sounded. I bought
