I've been slowly adding to my stash of tools and things at the cabin...
like a good chain saw (thanks Snarl and Agua).  Since the ATV has a slow
leak, and since air tools are fun to play with,,, I'm looking for a
compressor now.  Jinks has a nice size at the Compound and seems to keep
up with what's needed; so the question is, what brand/size is it, and
any recommendations?

electric vs. gas powered?  are you asking Jinks?

after watching a buddy go through 3 crapsman 'oil-less' jobbies over a 2
year period (ymmv) i opted for the harbor freight equivalent of this for
half the cost:

had it about 7-8 years now and it's seen moderate use.

get a cast iron head that uses an oil pump, buy no smaller than 5 hp,
preferably a 2 stage 5hp for when you decide you really want air
pressure to change tires on them atv's, or you buy that 4*4 with
17-44's to fit in with them country boys out there!)
I prefer an upright as it takes up less room, and the tank seems to
last forever (mine is old now,  and it lived in the FL salt air  , you
will never buy another

in fact, come to think of it, I may be willing to part with mine for a
reasonable amount, Mine is not a two stage though, but it has been
well taken care and will lift my mc lift with a K1200LT on it

    It's labeled a Sanborne "Black Max" 3.5hp/11gal.  Since I'm a
"discriminating" shopper, it was the cheap one at Sam's Club a *lot*
of years ago.  I've run the ass off it pushin' it way beyond it's
intended use.  Can't understand why it's still runnin'.
I want to get a larger upright, set it out back & run pipe to
a couple of stations in the shop.  Hard to justify the money in this
economic climate while that thing still works.........<shrug>
The one recommendation I can make is get an upright.  Even if
you don't need much capacity they eat less real estate inside or out.
