Shirley, set 'em up for everybody on what's left of my credit card and
keep 'em coming.

So, I had the dealer install the Zumo 550 bracket on the clutch
bracket and wire it to the ignition switch. Since he was putting a
bunch of other stuff I bought on the new scoot anyway, he threw it in.
Now, I decided to go ahead and order the XM antenna for it. I know a
few of you NetScum have this setup, and I'm wondering where did you
mount the antenna?

Buddy of mine mounted his on the tour pack, but I've got the luggage
rack there, and it would hide the antenna. It needs to have a clear
view of the sky at all times.

Have another while you're contemplating...

I have the three small bags that hang on the Road King windshield.  I
set the antenna puck in the little slot in the middle.  It rubs a bit
on the windshield but it works well there.  For a while I put it on
the fuel tank next to the fuel gauge.  That was OK, but sometimes my
body would block the signal.
I thinking on making a little bracket that attaches to the windshield
hardware, but I haven't consumed enough beer yet to finalize the
design.  These things take time you know.

Yup, so do I.

Sounds like a plan!

They do, indeed. I ordered a "flange bracket" on Amazon at the same
time I ordered the XM-30 antenna. Seemed like the right thing to do.
It was twelve bucks, so I figured why not. Comes with screws that look
like they want you to drill holes somewhere, which is something I
kinda shudder at. But maybe the bracket will attach to one of the
existing windshield nuts and bolts, and there will be no drilling.

I figure I already have two XM subscriptions, one for each car, so
another $6.95 a month to get it on the bike won't kill me. I ride the
bike about 1/3 of the time vs. the car, so it will definitely be worth
it.

Did you pay the $3.95 for the XM Traffic plan that overlays traffic
info on the Zumo? I'm wondering about whether that would be even worth
it, or if it would just be another thing I'm paying for and not using.
It's available in 80 cities, St. Louis being one of them. Of course,
there's already an XM traffic station dedicated to St. Louis, so it's
kinda redundant. And costs money, too.

Shirley, a round for BP and me, please, on my ever-shrinking credit
card...

E-mail on the way with a picture of my antenna install.....no drilling/brackets
required.

My radio mount on the bike is the same as in my truck and in the house.....so I
just move the receiver to where ever I want to listen to it. I've tried with no
luck to convince my wife she "needs" XM, she's a frikkin Luddite, doesn't "get"
HDTV.....

And it is pretty terrific.......

Here, let me help.....I'll take a cold Coors Lite........

Do you move the antenna off your bike whenever you move the receiver,
or do you have multiple antennas? Reason I ask is, the XM30 antenna
for the Zumo is very pricey - around $200 on Amazon. I am wondering if
the actual radio subscription is tied to the XM30 antenna, or to the
Zumo itself. I would have thought, the Zumo, not the antenna. But,
since a "normal" XM radio costs around $200, I'm just wondering.

Shirley, I think we're all a bit thirsty, so come a runnin', please...
