Well he I was traveling home from work on a nice balmy day, 50 deg and
sunny. Heading east on I-40 towards Black Mountain. Sign up ahead says
caution Line Painting Ahead, no problem traffic is fairly lite so I just
kinda start paying a little more attention.
I see the paint truck in the left lane painting the yellow line on the
left shoulder so I move over to the right lane and start slowing with the
traffic. As I was slowing and watching my mirrors, low and behold here
comes this 4 wheeler hell bent for election in the left lane with nowhere to
go. I gassed on it and headed for the bank.
Kinda felt like I was on Star Trak as when I looked over all I could see
was his undercarriage! I do believe I could have counted the welds in his
exhaust system.
He had hit the safebarrier on the rear of the paint truck, flipped him on
his side (the driver's side) and he slide on down the road into the
guardrail.
Me, I ended up in the ditch with mud and leaves packed everywhere.
The first NC Hwy Patrol on the scene came to my assistance, he helped me up
(yeah I was a little shaken and befuddled) and we righted the ol bike and
got it back on the shoulder of the road.
A few leaves of a nice fall color, a little mud, and a little dirt on the
backside of my jeans looks like the only damage I incurred.
The 4 wheeler that caused this was a young gal with the cell phone plugged
into her ear.
Just got back from the ER and my only injuries are a sprained wrist, not
bad for a old fart! Bout a qt of vodka should cure my ills.
