Never even thought about one for a bike. The only one I ever thought might
be a good idea was when they offered me a 4 years unlimited mileage
warrantee on the F350 I was going to drive 100k or more a year.
It was a big PITA, all kind of fine print. You had to call before a repair,
they would only pay $55 per hour, and they always wanted to put used parts
on the truck.
The good news is I paid somewhere around $1700 for the policy and collected
around 6 to 7k in the 4 years.
I'd say something you don't put a ton of miles on probably isn't worth it.
Just make sure and read the fine print. The being able to replace parts with
parts in "like" condition was a big loophole in the one I had. When you told
em you were going with new they could pull a price out of the air on what
they would pay. When I put the new motor in the bill was a little over 10k.
they said a "good" used one should have cost around 4k so that's what they
paid. Good return on $1700 but far from paying the bill.
Dale R It might work well on the pans. Trouble is the guys that
cold call me all the time want a truck with under 200k on it and I don't own
such a thing. Well the new work truck is an 05 with only 197k on it so I
guess if I was fast.

I had one back in 2000 on a 98 Cherokee I bought used. Cost 200 to
transfer it from the original owner to me. I had the first work done
at the dealer. Bad bearings in the steering column. After I talked
to them I did all the rest of the repairs myself. I had to call them.
Describe in detail why I wanted to repair/replace anything and all I
did after that was send them copies of the parts bills and they would
pay me the mechanics flat rate for doing it. Worked out fine for me.
Two cars later I tried to find them...They were no longer in business.
Can't remember the name.

Extended warranty is a shell game, you put your money under the shell
and never see it again.
But then there are always a few who will say it saved their bacon.
