Try a Dunlop Elite 3......I just put a set on my bagger. I'm hearing they'll get
about 50% (15K instead of 10K for a rear) miles before they need replaced.
I got them from Cycle Gear (UPS'd to the house). Rear ran me about $118, front
was $99. Took my wheels over to a local shop and had them mounted and balanced
for about $25.

Well, yes and yes. It's possible to end up with some strange handling
if you run really different an incompatible carcass profiles front to
rear, but the odds of you having that happen and actually pushing a
Harley hard enough for it to make much of a difference is probably
negligible.
Lots of people do it and live to tell the tale.
