Hi all,
I have an 09 FatBoy and it just doesn't have that typical, loud Harley
Sound. Next year I am thinking about new pipes. Perhaps Screamin
Eagles. Any suggestions on what to shop for?
Also, in the mean time, I have heard of people who drill holes in the
exhaust to make the bike louder. What are your opinions on this? and
how does one do it? I have heard that it could effect the bikes power.

You'll probably get a bunch of worthless, smart-ass replies from some of
the guys in here. (5,000 comedians out of work and everyone in here
seems to think they are funny.) Anyway, do not pay any attention to
them. Here's the truth about exhaust systems.
Straight pipes. That's the only way to go unless you want to modify your
existing exhaust. (see below) Straight pipes allow the exhaust gases to
leave the engine with great efficiency, and they are loud.

My opinion is that yes, some people drill holes in the exhaust to make
the bike louder.

With a drill. (Sorry...couldn't resist.)
I have heard that it could effect the bikes power.
Engines are simply air pumps. You need to be able to get air in and out
easily. First, you need a free flowing air intake system. Get one with a
skull on it for best results. If you want to get proper flow, drill
holes in the mufflers all along the bottom where people can't see them.
A dozen or so will do, and make them the size of a dime. Also, drill
some smaller holes in the exhaust pipe from the front of the muffler up
to about 1 foot from the engine. This will provide amazing results, and
it will make the engine very loud.

Yes, nice setup with a strong finish. Reminds me a fine Shiraz, sloping yet
argumentative.
