Can this possibly be true ?

"09 touring bikes built before Oct. 2, 08 have the wrong jiffy stand
bracket causing the bike to lean further than it should....The new and
correct part is #50096-09....It isn't a recall but if you call Harley
customer service (414-343-4056) they can arrange a warranty fix with
your dealer "

This explains a lot.  Like why from the first day I got the bike I
thought it leaned way too far over on the stand.

Thanks Kickstart.  I'll be calling today.

(yeah, i know, don't ever buy a first year bike)

I saw that and figgered it caused tension on the positive cable,
leading to it's failure

i think the way the moco is making so many changes from year to year, they
are all first year bikes.

I was at the dealer yesterday, as was an acquaintance who has an '09
Road Glide.  She has been complaining about the lean since she got the
bike in August.  The factory rep was there and mentioned this part.
Rather than order the new part, they just swapped it with the part
from a new bike that was going to get lowered.  It made a very
noticeable difference.
