ran into financial problems several years back that just got worse.
sold the panhead to a friend with the option to buy it back. went to
jail for two years for wearing a BELT BUCKLE. everything disappeared
while in jail, and i spent a year homeless. got a real job
(programming) last year.
was on the phone with an old friend, and he offered to sell me his
shovelhead out of the blue. ACCEPTED! and i thought he was going to
be buried with it.
trucked it from PA to MD yesterday, and the skies opened up as soon as
i got it off the truck. silly me started it and rode around the
parking lot, so it was too hot to cover and it spent the night in the
rain. that allowed for some up close and personal quality time as i
wiped it down this morning.
went for a ride at 10AM, and 7 hours (with a couple stops) and 7
gallons of gas later, i'm a very happy guy. my beard is doing the
yosemite sam thing, and i look like a cross between a lobster and a
raccoon.
lemme tell you - there's a big difference between a stock pan and a
102" delkron/s&s shovel!!! i say go, she say yes.
started at home in germantown, went to hagerstown, back to frederick,
into VA, up through WV, north through MD, crossed the PA line, back to
MD/WV/VA and home. mix of highway and side roads. good stuff.
except when i almost got run off the road when a woman with a carload
of kids decided to change into my lane with me still in it (and right
next to her window!) served as a good reminder that people DO NOT PAY
ATTENTION when driving.
