Hi all,
I have a 86 Virago 1100 that I bought for $700 two years ago. It has
52,000 miles on it and has started leaking around the rear head
gasket. More a slight seep really. When I park it after a ride, it
will leave some oil on the floor. I haven't really noticed any
performance decrease, but I tested the compression and got 120 psi
Front and 90 psi rear. Bike is really nice for the age, but I wonder
if it is worth rebuilding?
Manual says max compression difference should be 14 psi and I got
30!
My question is should I pull both heads and go ahead and get them both
redone?
Should I go ahead and pull the jugs, split the case and do the whole
thing?
Can I pull the jugs and re-ring without splitting the case?
How much does just a topend rebuild cost doing it myself?
How about the whole thing if I do it myself?
Anyone else done one of these?
