My son and I are working on a 1995 Virago 750. We are looking for some
pipes that will give us a little more power and sound. Any info or
experiences would be great.

Keep the stock pipes. The people who know that engine best are Yamaha
engineers.

To elaborate on that a bit:
It is a fallacy that more open (louder) pipes result in more power. Quite
the opposite is usually true.........because most folks don't carry through
with the REST of the adjustments necessary. That is, free flowing intake
(if not already present) and jetting changes to carb or map changes to FI
system.
Without doing ALL of that, all you are likely to accomplish is more NOISE
and probably LESS power.
Bottom line: even if you do it all "right" the gain in power for most bikes
is negligible. And many folks that do it all themselves never seem to quite
get it exactly right.

Loud pipes risk rights!

Well, one of the die hard biker traditions is to strip off the OEM exhaust
system and replace it with something more stylish and, of course, LOUDER.
The OP and his son will probably proceed with their quest for "improvement"
by fitting an aftermarket system.
But they shouldn't sell or give away the OEM system. New parts are incredibly
expensive and they just might need the OEM exhaust to get a fix-it ticket
signed off.
