I remember the old XL-883 series very fondly; as a former EX500 racer,
there is something really fun to me about watching slow bikes ridden
very fast. I did not see any of the XR1200 races in the abbreviated
inaugural season last year, but you can bet I'm going to try to catch
a couple this year.
I never realized just how far those guys leaned those mildly modified
Sportsters over until I saw this photo in my new issue of Road Racing
World & Motorcycle Technology that arrived today:

(Note that I couldn't find the photo from the magazine at the RRW&MT
site; but the above is the same photo that accompanies the referenced
article in the print edition of the magazine.)
Sheesh, having raced down that hill at VIR, all I can say is that
those guys are hauling the freight.
I'm looking forward to seeing them bang handlebars with each other
this year.

I read something about that series coming to Canada this summer. If
they make it to Race City I just might go take a look.

Local dealer has a new 2010 with your name on it <g>.
Swmbo looked at it but it is too tall for her.

Yeah this model looks like the old flat trackers we used to see at the
SJO mile course. Nice looking Harley. It sounds like they're going to
race them in AMA this season.
