Didn't work, did it?

I still use it. The oil companies want you to buy their product. So
why would they support something that would make you use less of it?

Uh, because the first one to bring it out would promptly corner the
market and be able to buy out his competitors and use their CEOs as
castrati in his own private choir. (And, BTW, that same old crackpot
paranoid theory is still being used to *prove* that big oil is
surpressing the 100 MPG carburator that was invented clear back in the
1930s...)

Of course, it wasn't true back then, and it still isn't true today,
but heck; some people are just happier thinking that the world is out
to get 'em.

Kettering University and Mythbusters both tried this and found out
that it didn't work.

---------

I haven't tried it in motorcycles or cars, but in both glow and spark model
engines it sometimes helps, if it doesn't eat up critical plastic or rubber
parts in the fuel system.

You gotta figure that oil companies have had scientists and engineers
working on creating the best formulations possible for nearly 100 years. It
isn't likely that they missed acetone in their megahunts for the magic
elixir in the last century.

Never had it eat parts in my motors. I still marvel at the economy of
a .020 reed valve 2stroke. Even running 50% nitiro, running on castor
you will wear out the piston and cylinder before you get carboned up.
That with steel piston and steel cylinder! I've YET to wear on a Fox .
35 for that matter and for those who don't know that is a motor that
runs wide open it's entire life. I have at least 20 gallons through
one and that was a USED motor of 60's vintage that was flown all
summer ever summer before I got it. It wears out glow plugs an I've
busted a needle but oott it's runner.
