I've got no video this time.
So very early Tuesday morning (or late Monday night if you prefer), I
went for a ride. I just had that urge. Anyway, I stopped for fuel on
the way home after the ride. The second left out of the fuel station,
a deer bolted out of the trees (where my headlamp refused to
illuminate).
Well this is beginning to get tiresome. If my video was running it
may not have seen the deer. The animal ran out onto the road. It was
so close to me that I swerved rather than braked. I mean it was
already even with my front wheel anyway, so I tried to give it some
room.
Somehow the animal realized it was on a bad path and reversed course
back into the trees.
I was only going about 35 mph, so the swerve was an easy maneuver. It
did help a bit that because of the hour there was no other traffic and
I had the entire road to work with.
My appreciation for these magestic animals is continuing to decline.
Oh, the past two days there was a group of five bucks, one with six
points, eating in my lawn. You can not imagine the temptation I had
to take the whole lot out. Or at least try to.

Did you install those deer whistles backwards?

Q: What would you call a deer with no eyes?
A: I have no eye-deer.

Why aren't these animals being hunted and eaten? They have obviously got
an out of control population if there are that many about. I'd love to
be able to shoot deer without having to go bush for the opportunity.
Are there restricted hunting seasons or something similar stopping them
being shot?

Sounds like you. You think you should just be able to pull
over to the side of the road and start firing, no matter where the
hell you are.
The only place that's allowed in this country is the inner
city.

Yes.
