This time, it's my neighbor. I didn't know him personnally, but he
lived just a block or two down from me. There's only one guy who fits
the description of being 59yo and rides a harley so I know who it is.
And another sad thing is that he was killed by his neighbor who lives
on the same block as he did. He was killed just outside our
subdivision by his neighbor who failed to yield the right of way. This
is a 25mph road, too. Sad and a little too close to home. So close in
fact that people at work this morning thought it might be me.

that's really sad, sorry

what's a "failure to lead" charge amount to where you live?

Failure to yield ROW will mean a fine, court costs, and a few driver's
points. In any case, it's less than reckless driving, which I'm
surprised they didn't charge her with or even involuntary
manslaughter.

I was riding a MC decades ago right up from there on a 4 lane 45mph
hiway. I passed a car, but form the cop's perspective, it looked like
I split lanes, which I didn't. There was no accident or anything, yet
i got a ticket for reckless driving. This lady kills a guy and she get
"failure to yield"? That's one step up from improper lane change!

She's getting off real easy. I can't help but think there's a built in
bias against bikes in accidents like this such that an excuse like "I
didn't even see him" actually carries weight.

lure_to_yield_right_of_way

I thouht I rpelied to this but don't see it, so here it is again...

Fialure to yield is below reckless driving, so she'll pay a fine,
court costs, and maybe get a point or two. It's one step above
improper lane change.

I got snagged near that same area decades ago on my bike. I was riding
on 4 lanes; 2 goig each way. I passed a car and from the cop's
perspective behind me, he said I split lanes. I didn't but i got a
reckless driving ticket anyway.

Seems there's a bias against bikes in accidents - as if part of the
blame is always the rider.
