Have any of you thought of or have actually downsized your bike? If
so, what did you move back to and are you satisfied?
I've thought about selling my bike; it's worth more than any car I own
other than my wife's. Get something smaller and cheaper... looked at
an 80's Yamaha Virago XV1000, but 80's bikes can be money pits, having
owned a couple (left outside, rust in the wrong places, worn out
parts). Thought about a 90's Honda Aero 1100, but folks seem to think
they're made of gold for the crazy prices they want for them. Don't
really want to go back to anything less than a litre.
The used market of bikes up for sale here locally is steadily
increasing on Craigslist and the newspapers that serve my region as, I
assume, folks are breaking their bikes out of winter storage to make a
few bux in the Spring. I'll keep looking, but what I'm finding is less
than I have now (accessories and condition wise).

If you are staying with a cruiser, definitely don't go below 1000cc.
I have a friend who went to a Suzuki Boulevard C50. It's a great
bike for what it does, but roll-on and top speed are disappointing if
you are used to a larger bike.

Yeah, I came from an Aero 750, which was comfortable and rode like a
lounge chair but performed unspectacularly.

A late model (before being discontinued) Magna 750 would solve that
problem.
A DL650 would be a lot of fun and still be capable on the highway.
There are lots of very capable sub 1000cc bikes out there.
Some of us even recall the days before liter bikes and we seemed to
get by quite well touring the country.

I agree the Magna would be a good choice. I almost bought a Magna,
but the small gas tank turned me off. I also agree there are some
fine sub-1000cc bikes out there; I ride one. When I said cruiser, I
meant the V-twin, low rpm type. As for remembering the days before
liter bikes, I remember when the CB750 first came out.
