We were in school in 1969 when it came out.
All of us riding Ducatis, AJS, Triumphs and BSAs though the size was
foolish.

Have any of you thought of or have actually downsized your bike?
Yes! After owning any number of big baggers and cruisers, including Gold
Wings, BMW RT's and FLH H-Ds, plus a plethora of Jap and Italian sport
bikes, I bought a simple 883 sportster. Love it.

And yet my friends and I thought it was the best thing to ever hit the
market.
I was so tired of screwing around with British bikes, The Prince of
Darkness and trying to kick those suckers over, and having the damn
things kick me back, the smooth running four cylinders and reliable
electric starters of the Inline four was a Godsend.

i ride what has become relabeled a c50 (at least, i think ...) ...
it's a 805cc cruiser
i'm very easily able to imagine having more speed ... i think i read
once (here, actually) that tires have to be rated for big speeds
otherwise you get the wobbles from the rear trying to spin faster than
the front, so maybe new tires would be a solution, but the engine
itself doesn't seem to have fire in it -- some cruisers do though, and
while this is the only cruiser i've ridden, i've had my doors blown
off a time or two by others (not crotch rockets)
then again, i hear the big ones burn gas like cars, but i don't know
how true that is (or if that's even relevant)
