Just got the call from the bike shop.....the KTM is all go and serviced.
The starting/running rough problem was put down to dirty fuel which had
blocked the jets in the rear carb. :( It seems strange that it was going
the day before and just refused to run the next morning....oh,well, all
fixed now.
Since my licence doesn't come back for 3 weeks, I'm getting a mate who's
SuperDuke needs a service next weekend, to double another mate up to
Auckland to ride my bike back. The guy who will be riding it brought my
old KTM LC4....this ride will corrupt him into wanting more power for
sure. :) So, fingers crossed, my bike will be home next Monday (not
this coming one) a week before I can ride it.....maybe I will finally
get around to putting on that Scott oiler, bark busters and radiator
guard.....only 20 sleeps to go!

No in-line fuel filters ? Glad you've got the bike back.

No idea....I left it to the bike shop thinking it would be a warranty
job. Wrong again! :)
The mechanic said something about crystals blocking the jets? caused by
bad fuel?

You're sure the crystals weren't up his nose ?
An in-line filter is an aftermarket filter that plugs into the
fuel line to the carb(s) to catch fine grit. "Crystals" and
crapping up one but not the other carb both sound strange.
If he meant fine sand or grit, I guess that's believable.
If it were me, I might dump the tank of gas into my car's
fuel tank, check the float bowls and ask the shop about
in-line filters to protect the carbs.
