Hey all,
I'm on the verge of getting my bike license and I've started to look
into what kind of bike I want. I'm 29 years old and I've been driving
cars for years including some taxis. I've also had plenty of experience
in my younger days with scooters and dirtbikes just to give you some
idea. In other words, I'm not an 18 year old hothead aching to check
how fast a Ninja really goes ;-)
The bike that I've been looking at is the KTM 990 Super Duke if you
know which one that is. That's pretty much the type of bike I'm
interested in, if you guys have similiar suggestions. I could see
myself driving a sportsbike down the road but not until I have the
proper skill. For now, I just want to start and get into it nice and
easy. Moneywise it's not THAT big of a problem. I do know that I'd like
it to be new and not second hand.
Any ideas and suggestions?

Check out the V-Strom 650 or V-Strom 1000 by Suzuki. -Dave

You've got a big disconnect between the above two sentences.

Why do people even ask for advice on what bike to buy since 99% of them
already have their mind made up? Besides that, 95% of the responses are
'buy the bike I bought so I feel better about my choice' or 'buy the
bike I've got because everything else is stupid'.
You should buy an EX250 (Ninja 250), because it was the perfect beginner
bike for my wife, and I chose it, and it will make me feel better if
you buy one too. If the 250 is a little too small for you, the Suzuki
GSX-R1000 or the Kawasaki ZX-14 would be a fine choice.

I'll say...If I liked twins at all, I'd be on that Super Duke. It is a
monster hoolie bike, not a beginners bike.
