My Kia Optima has throttle-by-wire and traction control. In addition to
pumping the brakes during wheel spin, the throttle can close to help regain
control of the wheels. It does not push back on the pedal, though, just
flashes a light on the dash. In the absence of spinning, it does not
try to fight back when accelerating quickly.

That article killed any tiny interest I might once have had in owning
a Nissan or Renault.

I can't imagine riding along, and all of a sudden your car
decides to slam on its own brakes.
