Motorcyclist dies in apparent Ventura County road rage incident

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/08/motorcyclist-dies-in-ventura-county-road-rage-incident-.html

A Ventura County motorcyclist died after being dragged 75 feet in a
collision with an RV on Highway 101 in what California Highway Patrol
officials described Tuesday as a road rage incident.

The motorcyclist, who was not immediately identified, was traveling
south on U.S. 101 shortly after noon Monday, when he got into an
altercation with the RV driver, said CHP Officer Terry Uhrich.

A witness told investigators that the motorcyclist made obscene
gestures before suddenly pulling in front of the larger vehicle and
slamming on the brakes, Uhrich said. The rear wheel of motorcycle got
caught under the front right bumper of the RV, which lost control and
slammed into the center divider, he said.

The biker, 57 was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at
the scene. Uhrich noted that the biker was wearing a so-called skull
cap which partially covered his head but is not certified and did not
provide protection in the event of collision.

I've had a few folks recommend I carry a collapsible police-type baton, and
when somebody cuts me off or otherwise makes a stupid, unsafe move in their
car, I should blast past them and take out their rear view mirror.

I still have my old baton, and it's very, very tempting to follow through on
this advice, especially here in LA.

Among the problems with this are, it's illegal, I could lose control of the
bike, and the guy could either flick the wheel and take ME out or pull a gun
and start shooting.

Oh, I could drop the baton too, and those suckers go for $60 and up.

I suppose I could follow them around and creep them out, and sometimes I'll
do it for a few minutes before I realize I've got better things to do with
my time.

Now I'm 40, and you'd think by the time a guy got to 57 he'd be even more
frugal with how he wastes his time.

Well, I hope this guy in the RV was a real asshole.  This clown managed to
cost him some time, some damage to his RV, probably spilled his soda, and
all it cost him was his life...AND his bike!

I was in my mid-50's before I figured out that I couldn't teach
anybody anything about how to behave on the highways.

But some people never learn...

That is because you are an incomptenat human being who could teach a
kitten to shit on the floor.

Yep you haven't learned your place YET serf...some days I wish they'd
let us royals kill off the useless serfs, but the queen has spoken.
