I thnk whether or not people were indignant would depend on who did it. Pretty
people get away with murder you know. It's been proven.

I think people have a responsibility to consider the temperment of the person
they're messing with. Allen strikes me as a relatively serious person who
doesn't fight for sport.

He probably has nothing to fear from his ISP. Whining about tone certainly
won't have any effect and I doubt he's been altering anyone's URL or creating
rumors of people being child molesters. In general I agree with your philosophy
that reporting to an ISP is going too far, but I have to agree with Don that
Allen hasn't been a problem in Reeky. In the example of Kieth, while I thnk
that was not really any of Allen's business, Kieth's apparent slander was so far
out of line I can't fault Allen there. It's in everyone's interest to stifle
intentional acts meant to do genuine harm, and that's the way I took Kieth's
post. Contacting an ISP can certainly be taken the same way, but there's a
difference to me.

I actually read most of your posts, Mike. It seems you are truly discussing
this even though you have a formed opinion. I appreciate that.
My 2 cents anyway. With rare exception, contacting an ISP is bad form....but
not always.

In the case stated and shown in google it is not only bad form but
completely cowardly.
Have you followed this thread where allan has then made false claims
about how slurs on his family were made when google archives show no
such thing?
That not only makes him a little girly tattle tale but also a big fat Liar.

Possibly. OTOH, when Allan tried to drum up support for
reporting one of the Walkers last year, he didn't get much support.

After reading the archives, I have a somewhat different impression.

Stifle intentional acts to cause harm? Please.
Reeky is a newsgroup; it's not real life.

Alas aus.moto is currently having an official Harsh Week. If his posts
had turned up at any other time we would have been a bit nicer..
