(seen on uk.r.m) - This is kinda weird - some character is selling
a house plus entire lifestyle (including a Kawi Ninja) in Perth,
Australia.

Well, I don't think *I'll* bid on it. For one thing, from where I live,
this is nearly the ends of the Earth (antipodes). I don't know anyone
in Perth -- in fact all I know about Western Australia was in the movie
_A Waltz Through the Hills_. For another, if I simply showed up
at the Perth airport saying, "Hi, I just bought a house here and
I've come to live in your country," Aussie Immigration might not
be very amused.

Of course the real problem is the Ninja. I don't ride sportbikes,
so, sorry, the deal's off.

Take a gander at Australia's citizenship requirements for foreigners. You
might be surprised to learn that you might be one of the unwashed masses
that they do not wish to let become an Aussie.

Not a physician, lawyer, engineer, scientist, etc., no entry - unless you
are rich. Then it is okay.

Oh, you can come visit and spend your money, but you won't be welcome to
stay unless you are elevated above the common folks. And this comes from a
bunch of descendants of ex convicts. I think they are pretty smart,
actually. Now if we could figure out a way to scoot Mexico's northern border
over to Australia...

Now that is a curious state of affairs, considering that their national
anthem proudly boasts:

Do you really mean to imply that the Aussies would be less than willing
to share their boundless Outback with some Canuck hoser?

That is how I remember it from my childhood education.

With memory drift over the years and the possibility that they have changed
the rules - who knows? But I grew up resenting them for not wanting me as a
citizen, or so I thought.

I always wanted to move to Australia. Especially after living for three
years in Arizona.

It's pathetic that the guy defines his life with a long listing of all
the stuff he's accumulated.  What's he gonna do with the money after the
sale?  Go somewhere else and buy a lot of new stuff, that's what.  He's
trying to escape from somnething that's in his mind, not in Perth or
anywhere else.
